Default Finally got to play a Blackbird Lucky 13

Yes please! Liked it a lot. It had the MiSi on board and I was thinking that setup was more involved than it is. It is instead, very minimalist. I might consider swapping my CA for one. I liked the tone very much. Although I've never played a Gibson L1 (how many have?), I found the L13 didn't sound at all like a small bodied guitar like I might have expected. More more like a cross between that and a dread but still having that nice "cut" to it. I found the neck to be very much "Gibson-esque". More rounded and full than a slim-taper. Probably more like vintage Gibson perhaps and the satin finish of the neck was nice too. My hand seems to prefer the shorter scales and this one felt very proper to me, even with the higher factory action. I like this guitar!

I agree with everything you posted. Mine has a K&K in it and it plays effortlessly with no hand fatigue. Responds well to finger picking and strumming, projects well and just today I realized how well it sustains. It is a winner and will soon be my only guitar. I take it out with my bicycle and never have to be concerned about weather. The gig bag is well padded and constructed. I've taken it in the car and can leave it without worries and it is small enough to bring on airplanes easily. Living in Central FL the benefits of this guitar are a huge plus.

Oh man. Just when my GAS for a Lucky 13 has subsided......

I don't need or want the pickup, however, as I've stopped gigging.

That has been my issue. If I had a chance to play one when in the market for a short scale CF it might have won me over the Shorty.

I would love to play one and missed the road trip opportunity when Macnichol was still in business.

Atlanta discount music is where I tried mine. Nice place with lots of cool, older guitars, amps and a pile of freakin' pedals

I got to play a Lucky 13 this weekend as well. Actually, I bought it from a fellow AGF member. If I could only have one guitar on a deserted island, it would be a Lucky 13. It's smaller than I had imagined and a pleasure to play. I've heard the Taylor 414ce referred to as the Swiss Army knife of guitars. For my needs the Lucky 13 fills that description. Its sure to be a companion on upcoming road trips and occupy a place next to my couch.

Cool glad you liked it and UPS was kind. Probably could have sold that several times. Lol. Retired this year trying to get my guitar count below 10. Got some work to do.
