A Guild F 112 is indeed a fine 12 string, but more of a 000 size. Pono is now showing a Dread 12 string only. My OP 12-30 is a sweet little guitar.

very happy with my Taylor GA3-12. In the secondary market (no longer being produced), these are sub $1K guitars.
Then again, I'm not a discriminating 12-string guitarist! f-d

I will second that "second best" comment! The 562ce is the easiest-playing 12-string that I think I have ever had the pleasure to try out. Looks great and sounds very sweet, too. 12-fret, all-mahogany, small body.

I'm getting myself into deep water now! GAS it's called! Trouble is I've had bad experiences with custom ordering guitars from the USA before.
What with import taxes, and 20% tax on purchase price, shipping costs, and excise duty (yes tax on tax) - returns aren't even feasible. Question is ... do I "need" another 12 string ? (with GAS need isn't part of the game is it).

I love my used for 200$ Seagull. Strong top and neck joint yet still has decent chime. Note: Some 12 strings can't hold the string pressure. I tune mine to Eb and that helps keep the action low along with the North American strong woods.
For mid $2k level....I love 12 fret GC Taylors but try a few to get the one. Guild has great ones but I have lost track of the best era's and models. |

I won't take a chance on long distance buying, with all the potential for disasters and international incidents! If I can't play a guitar first I won't buy it.

Carbon Fiber holds its own in the 6 string market, but the place where carbon fiber is clearly superior to comparable portable wood instruments is in the doubleneck and other multi-string acoustic instruments. They are lighter, stronger, excellent for travel and can sustain all day. You can safely take carbon fiber to environments you wouldn't take your nice wooden instruments and they also tend to stay in tune better. I didn't discover these carbon fiber varieties until a few years ago, but I am certain they are a game changer and will consider them as equals but tougher the next time I have GAS. I now have two and am considering at least two more before I am done.

For Europeans, Emerald has the added advantage of being made in the EU.
That should help with the tax/shipping issues. |

I bought a Vintage '30s Gibson from a well known US jazz guitar shop, sent them the money and strict instructions (given to me by Customs & Excise). They shipped OK , but failed to follow my instructions which cost me about £100 extra. I also had to have it refretted because they had butchered the originals. I ordered a new custom built Huss & Dalton, (most expensive guitar purchase ever). I arrived at the dealers unplayable - no matter what the dealer did. H&D would not discuss with me, and didn't help the dealer much either. On US ebay I saw a '64 Martin D12-20 which looked like a D12-35. Private sale CONUS only. UMGF members smelt a rat. He got no bids. I made contact with him, called him, and convinced him to ship it to me - arrived in perfect condition, with paperwork to certify rebuild by Martin. I love it. Santa Cruz "RS" - been looking for one since I got rid of the Huss & Dalton. Found one on US Ebay. Made contact, convinced him to ship it to UK. All went well, received a stunning guitar. I've never done this to save money, just to source instruments difficult/impossible to find in the UK.

Taylor introduced two new 12-string flavors, the sapele/spruce 352ce and blackwood/mahogany 362ce.
Both are grand concert size and a lot more affordable than the 500 series. |

I bought one and sent it back. Wasn't as easy to play as my k66. Even tried another and the same thing. Very disappointed.

If you haven't seen it yet, Taylor sent out an email a few days ago announcing two new 12-Fret 12 Strings, the 352ce and 362ce. The 352ce is spruce/sapele, the 362ce is mahogany/blackwood. Both are cutaways in a GC body.

Don't know your budget, but if open, look for a Guild "Doyle Dykes"...concert/auditorium size body with florentine cutaway.
Outstanding. |
