I am forever confused about correct terminology, or at least, using the words that confuse the least. What is a "record" vs. "album", for instance?

Anyway, I never ever thought that songs only were those "pieces" that are sung.

Hmmm......

Not arguing at all, just sayin'....

What I'm learning now (not labeling, for fear of repercussions): Moon River, You Are So Beautiful. And I am not singing. I am playing these as solo acoustic fingerstyle.

I just came up with fingerstyle / alternating bass fingerpicked arrangements for the following songs

"Yellow Rose Of Texas" in open D.

Merle Haggard- "Sing Me Back Home" Standard Tuning

Merle Haggard "It's Not Love But It's Not Bad" again Standard Tuning

I'm working on also In Standard Tuning
Tom T. Halls -"Homecoming"
Buck Owens-" Together Again"
George Jones "Memories of Us"

Given the number of correctness would suggest other wise - IMO.

I think pretty much everyone knew what the OP was asking and could have received a lot more helpful advice if the gentle corrections were replaced with constructive guidance.

"Song" definition option:

"A musical composition suggestive of a song." - Oxford dictionary
Works for me.

I saw Russell Malone at a jazz festival on Sunday, and he played Wichita Lineman. It was a lovely tribute and wow, he sounded good!
