Default Grin & Smile, Open G in Colorado 8/13

Usually I play instrumentals or team up with my wife on vocals, but they made me solo yesterday at this singer/songwriter event. Between lightning bolts, with a tune from my older"Cat's Pajamas" CD. Open G tuning

Very nice, John. Looks like a rainy day in Salida!

Thanks for watching, and yep, nice dodging the lightning bolts- but you know all about that down Durango way!

I like the chord voicings that result from open G.

Me, too! Having said that, I've moved out of this tuning for writing, but still compose in the very close DGDGCD, off the back cover of John Renbourn's "Lady & the Unicorn". But in the 90's open G was my main platform, and all but a couple songs on my older "Cat's Pajamas" CD are in open G, including 2 instrumentals that appear on both my albums. It's no wonder Joni Mitchell & Keith Richards both found so much music in open G- even if Keith did it without the low string.
