I wanted to keep the fretboard simple and clean on this build, so we opted to just have "micro-line" side markers. I have these on my other Stehr and really like their simplicity. Here's a shot of the cuts made into the coco binding ready to receive the maple micro-lines. Joel commented that he makes these cuts by hand very carefully and SLOWLY!

Thanks for checking it out.....

Default Neck fitted onto the box!

Joel has glued on the fretbord and has been progressing work on the neck. He's heading out on a fishing trip with both his son and his dad (how cool is that!), but prior to leaving he sent me this shot. His artistry continues to amaze me--I'm totally blown away with how well this has come together. The flow of the rosette stem into the fretboard stem just completely does it for me! Thanks for checking in...

I must have missed the post regarding the side markers, that is really cool, I like that.

I also like the last pic. That is super cool Nemoman. This is beautiful.

Default Neck pictures...

Thanks for the comments, guys. Just received a couple of pics to end the weekend with. I've said it before, but I really love how the coco detailing runs continuous up the back of the neck, and it's also a continuation of the BRW coloring and the endgraft below that. Just totally cool.....thanks for checking it out!

So glad I checked in on this. What a beauty! I'm a fan of Joel's work, and this further enforces that view!

Now let me offer another perspective on your overlay:

Inspiration?...

Maybe.

No doubt there is a bird, but I was thinking the bird had a surfboard to the left and looking out over the ocean in a sort of "Endless Summer" sort of a way...

Default Bird watching...

Thanks for all the comments, guys--I'm really excited for this one. Getting close to the long dead zone as it goes to finishing...

Thanks for checking it out, Steve! I think you may be onto something--This guy on the backplate doesn't have the beak length to be a crane, but he does have the neck length! Hmmnnnnn--I wonder.....

So what I think we have here must be a hybrid love-child bird as a result of a quail mating with a sandhill crane that (as Nootis suggested) is looking out over the ocean! Thanks for playing along guys--it's a great way to keep the mind occupied while waiting for the next batch of pics!

See what you started, Tom?!
