A baritone's tone - Tellier Guitars
Hi everyone,
In may I received my baritone built by Fred Tellier. As I did for my first Tellier build, I wanted to make a short video from build pics and record the guitar to give an idea of the tone. I'm much too lazy to learn other people's music, so I have this habit of working on little pieces of my own. When I was about to receive the baritone I was thinking I would begin a new original with the rumbling bass and dark cavernous deep low end. Well, you know how it goes. First time I put my hands on the guitar, a couple of notes up on the neck go out of the guitar and I'm stuck with these in my head... So I had to finish this little piece and that's the musical background of the vid. The tuning here is B-D-G-D-G-B, and I will probably move lower to A-D-G-D-G-A in the futur as the guitar takes it really well. I found that the Baritone was a little more tricky to record than my maple SJ, but there it is, without added reverb or post recording tweaking with the EQ. As for my opinion it is a fantastic guitar.

Nice video and tune Jean, I should send all my guitars to you to do a demo video. Too bad we live so far apart.

I really like your composition - it's very interesting and outside the box. I wish I could play half as well! The guitar sounds phenomenal in your hands: very balanced for a baritone, with very sweet trebles. Most impressive!

Sounds good, JF. Very creative and original. The main theme has a nice hook to it.
I'm glad to hear that you're still getting along with your baritone. |

Thank you guys for your kind words about the music and tone. The tone -wich was the main objective for this recording- has to be credited to the fantastic guy and skilled luthier named Fred Tellier. That little 2 minutes of music is the result of months of working on it, so SJ, I'm not half the player as you might think I am. Maybe just a darn stubborn player. But it feels good to receive positive feedback, since I did my best. I'm thankful for your comment. Thank you also Mau for your feedback. It means a lot to me. You were the first to record that guitar and you did such a stunning job that I was uncertain about coming out with this recording. Even more considering that I had the advantage of having a guitar that "opened up" since May () Feel free to borrow it whenever you want, although I believe it won't be long you'll have one built for you.

I'm not sure whether I enjoy playing baritone guitars but I surely think the tone is amazing. I didn't expect to enjoy the sound of your guitar as much as I did. Visually I really like the Petros Baritone... We'll see after Christmas. |
