Quentinjazz, yes: we leave out the last fret until this point to aid in location.
Look closely, and you'll see two small holes in the fret slot. Pins fit in those holes and two corresponding holes in the top. As we do not use a tendon in our heels, this simple method keeps the neck on centerline when installing the neck.
Then, we come back and install that last fret right before set up.
I hope that makes sense!
Thanks again,

Steve
Thank you for your reply!

Tenon, tenon, tenon... Hmm, those got by the spell checker.
Last note should read, "...we do not use a tenon in our heels..."
Though technically first comment was true, we don't use tendons either.
Anyway, many thanks for the kind words. I hope Trevor will be happy, and that Richard will be beside himself.
Which by the way, we blasted Emynau Cymru into this guitar for about two hours on Saturday morn, Richard. I'm doing what I can to make it play in Welsh.

Thanks guys,

Steve

Hey Bob, we can do some snapshots if that will suffice?
We took some glamour shots yesterday at a local photo studio.
Those won't be available for another week or so. I want some of those for our web site. Hopefully Trevor will snap a pic or two, when it makes it across the pond. He's very good at that.

Well I convinced Steve to let me record a few tunes of him playing this beauty. He tried his hand at a couple of Welsh tunes in honor of its soon-to-be owner. I hope you like them. The first is "Here Is Love" and the second is what I call "Walking around Cwm Rhondda."

Sincere apologies to both composers of those glorious tunes.
Someday they will be played as they deserve!
But at least you get an idea of the guitar.

LOL, I think you are being a little hard on yourself. Both you and the guitar sound great. I am so bad at sound descriptions, but it has a very full even distribution between highs and lows....very clear note separation while a the same time a richness....oh crap, I give up, it sounds great!

I did not know that bluegrass and welch music had such similar licks, that last lick on the last track sure had a distinct bluegrass run in it

Thanks for your kindness, Tom. And yes, that is a versatile lick. It doesn't quite fit there, but it was fun.

Hi Steve,

Nice playing - I like your interpretations of the Welsh tunes. Cwm Rhondda is practically the second Welsh national anthem (along with Calon Lan), sung at international rugby matches in the Millennium Stadium as well as in churches and chapels.

Kind of you to say, Richard. It would be great if an artist like Ed Gerhard did some arrangements of those Welsh tunes. That would be lovely.

Default A Few Parting Shots

Well, this guitar is on its way to TAMCO.
A few pics will suffice until Trevor gets his lens on it.

Full frontal:

Rosette/side:

Back:

That last shot ^ is a bit dark, due to poor lighting and/or camera skills.
But it is kinda close, and I can't wait to see how Trevor lights it up.

Thanks,

Steve
