Default Opinion on Michael Kelly instruments

Hello. I was wondering if anyone here had any experience on Michael Kelly instruments. They seem to be pretty reasonably priced on eBay...

Over the years I have played numerous MK mandolins and a couple of their acoustic bass guitars. Lets just say I wasn't impressed, and I can think of better options for reasonably priced instruments.

I can only speak from my experience with my MK ABG.

While it's fun to play, it is a niche instrument. Mine is fretless and is setup with tapewounds.

I can dial in a nice, thick bass that is very complimentary when plugged in but, there's not enough of a body cavity for it to be used strictly acoustic.

Most of the MK inquiries I've read have related to looks and price. TBH they do look nice in ad.

Most of the responses I've read have not been favorable re fit & finish, playablility and tone.

Thats not to say they are good or bad just the concensus seems less than favorable. When buying online sometimes that all you have to go on.

Do a MK search on MandolinCafe.com for reviews and feedback.

I'm just passing on what I've read but that's extensive. My local shop does not carry them so I have no first hand opinion

On initial glance, the price seems reasonable to me, but haven't any experience with it. Gonna try with it soon.

I'd not buy a MK mandolin. Lots of other and better options (Kentucky, Eastman, J Bovier) available at that price point.

I own 2 of their acoustic guitars. They look, play and sound awesome. I am selling both but only because they are rarely played with my ever increasing stable. That is the only MK experience I have but it has been a very positive one...
