Default SOLD Taylor GC5 (a fingerstyle dream) $1250 SOLD

SOLD

For sale here is a Taylor GC5. $1250 shipped ConUS for charter AGF members. $1300 for registered members.

This is an incredibly responsive cedar-topped small-body guitar, making it ideal for fingerstyle or fingerpicking and giving it a warmer, richer sound when strumming. If you’ve ever found Taylor guitars to be “too bright” sounding, then this is the guitar that will change your mind.

Taylor introduced a range of guitars they dubbed “The Acoustic Line” – these were basically their flagship guitars but without the expensive decorations and without a cutaway or pickup option. These were, inarguably, the best Taylor guitar value. These had alphabetic names indicating the body chape and a number indicating the wood series.

This guitar has:

• Grand Concert body
• Solid Genuine Mahogany Back and Sides
• Solid Western Red Cedar Top
• Ebony Fingerboard
• Gloss Finish
• 1 3/4" Nut Width
• 24 7/8" Short Scale Length
• Ivoroid Binding
• Abalone Rosette
• Abalone Dot Inlays
• Abalone dot ebony bridge pins
• Slotted Headstock
• Gold Hardware
• Premium open gear tuners with matching grained ivoroid buttons
• Taylor Premium Hardshell Case

Condition:

This guitar is in excellent condition, with the only signs of any use or age being:
- A very few tiny, pin-prick size dings in the finish here and there. Too small to show in photos
- Two small pencil-point size finish nicks on the body an done on the headstock
- Only a tiny bit of fret wear from playing

The top is a nice cedar color and the mahogany is simply gorgeous – even the neck. The fingerboard looks like new as well.

The guitar was just set up to full Taylor factory specs and has a perfect neck angle, action and relief. It has a brand new saddle that was hand intonated and new Elixir PB 11/52 strings.

Additional:

The strap buttons are brand new. The tail button is a Planet Waves gold elliptical button, custom-modified to fit directly into the threaded Taylor anchor.

There is a removeable miniature clear pickguard. This is ultra-thin but can be removed easily if you don’t want one. If you have strong nails or rest your fingers on the soundboard or if you strum hard with a pick I’d recommend keeping this to protect the soft cedar top. If you slide your fingers along the top as you fingerpick or strum with your fingers, I’d recommend removing this as is has a slight sound as your finger slides on it.

There is an armrest, custom-made from rosewood to match the headstock overlay. This can also be removed without any problem (Taylor’s UV cured polyester finish is impervious to these as I have installed and removed many, many of these). I find the cedar tops to be very sensitive so I like these to lift your arm off the soundboard.

The case is Taylor’s better hard shell case. This is the brown one (not the black one) with the crushed red velvet interior. The case is in good shape.

I am including a new black vegan suede strap (my favorites).

Thanks - it plays even better than it looks - I've got a lifetime-keeper guitar in a Taylor GC7 which I am madly in love with .

I've previously owned a GA3(-12), a GC4, two GC3's and a GC8.

I really wanted to grab this one as its really the bullseye for fingerstyle playing.

It turned out to be everything I hoped, but I just cant keep a GC5 and GC7 (both cedar tops) and I am very attached to my GC7 so I decided to let this one go.......

Courtesy bump for a nice guitar.

Fazool, if it wan't a slot head I'd probably be all over this. Just can't get on with slot heads.

Thanks Joe !

yep - its a great guitar. Funny enough the previous two Taylors I "flipped" were a GC8 and a 322 and I swapped the paddle-head and slothead just for some uniqueness so I had (for a hot minute) a GC8 without a slothead

My sentiments exactly! I put up with the one on my Martin 000-17SM only because I love the guitar so much.
