We had time over this past week to finish binding the top of the guitar and we have been working on fitting the neck to the body and getting all the angles set properly - so I decided to post some new photos.

We are VERY close to sending this off for finishing - probably this week. This is an exciting time for us in the build.

ENJOY!

Looks beautiful Paul, I must learn to build.

Do you have any reading material you'd recommend?

Good luck with the guitar!

Mike,

Thanks for the kind words. Reading material???

Two things have done the most to contribute to our early success building guitars:

1) The week-long class we took with Kevin Gallagher of Omega Guitars. Nothing can replace the hands-on experience and Kevin's leadership in showing us "the ropes".

2) I have spent hours and hours reading threads on a web site called the Official Luther's Forum (OLF - http://www.luthiersforum.com/). The threads and the people on this forum have been amazing at helping us with our build questions along the way.

We should have the guitar back from finish sometime next week and will be posting more photos then.

I wonder if i sold you thqat set of Bocote--It sure looks like a set I sold on the OLF last year--I always wanted to build with that set and you sure are killing me with those pics. How was working with bocote? I had two matching sets that I was going to build a set of dreads with but you know how that works out. Anyway--gorgeous build and please let us know how the bocote compare to other tonewoods.

I did buy the Bocote on the OLF Swapapalooza last year - so it probably DID come from you.

The Bocote has been very fun to work with. It bent easy and I absolutely LOVE the sapwood! The guitar is turning out beautiful - and I can't thank you enough for letting this wood pass into my hands.

The guitar is being finished by Joe White - who has done all my finishes so far. The guitar should be back in my hands right after Thanksgiving - and then a few days to set it up and it will be ready to play. Quite exciting.

Here's some finish photos.

Looks like Joe has a number of builds in process for finishing. Can't wait to see yours, goodvibes Gwaltney, and mcozma's Stehr when he gets the poly coat on and buffed out.

I'm sure this one is going to be breathtaking Paul!

I have been bad about updating this thread.

The guitar is finally done - and we are VERY happy with the results.

We got it back from finish by Joe White (a master a guitar finishes), glued the bridge on, made the nut and saddle and did some tweaking. We also installed a K&K Pure Western Mini which sounds very nice.

I LOVE how the Bocote looks on the guitar under finish. I sort of knew it would come alive - and I wasn't disappointed.

I'm pleased to say that from the very first strum this guitar just sings!

It is loud and clear - and the Carpathian Spruce is a wood will will definitely use again.

Here's some photos. Enjoy!
