Yep, I'm still working on my first one. And as I delve deeper into the build I grow in knowledge just how good Tim is at this! I have been a lucky guy. I've owned the OMD for a while. Got to test drive a Cuban wonder. Over the years I have spent days at the Mcknight Jams and gotten to play with a dozen McKnights. When I was just at the McKnights Tim had a Sunburst Deacon that I could have wrapped up and taken home. For that matter a Ultra thin Mini Mac that was incredible! The detail and finesse he puts into his art will not be endangered by my guitar building dreams lol |

way to go John. The Deacon is the one i would love too. like your blackface idea. not sure about the decision to go less deep in lower bout? but no doubt that guitar will respond like the dickens, heck just by breathing on the strings.
i am almost 43 yrs old so i get to use words like "dickens" now i gather... cant wait to see the build photos....

You are gonna have a boatload of fun with this, John!
Are you going with a radiused top or Tim's flat top? I can still hear the one flat top I played a bit at the last McJam. Very full and snappy.

I brought along a Epi ELOO and described what I liked and didn't. I like the scale 24.75, I like the 1.65 and spacing. The neck is smaller than Tims "standard", I like the quicker fall off but fullness the Epi has, I am sure Tim will do wonders with the tone. This will be fun! I hope I don't drive Tim Mad. |

I am VVVVEEERRRYYY Excited to announce I have brought my favorite inlay artist into the project; Craig Lavin http://www.handcraftinlay.com/
Craig will be creating a Monarch Butterfly on a Flowering Milkweed for the Head Plate. I met Craig at the A.S.I.A Symposium. In addition to chatting I sat through a Powerpoint show of his on Inlay theory. His background gives him interesting insight. Attention to detail, artistic interpretations and his use of bright colors / alternate materials really struck me. I so look forward to what these great guys will create. As the design comes along I will share |
