For Sale Or Trade: 1957 Gretsch New Yorker archtop

Great guitar. I picked it out in person at Guitar Center because it played and sounded so good. But I finally saved up and bought a Gibson archtop and can't keep both. Honestly this guitar sounds louder and plays faster than the Gibson. The fretboard has a nice tight radius for jazz.

Only crack on the entire guitar is not all the way through, it's just in the first layer on the top near the F hole. But it doesn't go through the next layers. Thus one of the benefits of laminates! The guitar does have lots of finish wear, dings, scratches, etc. from being played the last 60+ years.

Frets look to be original or at least not very recent as they are pretty low. This makes playing very fast and easy. The fretboard is nice and flat with low action and no dead spots. I was really surprised at how well it is setup for an older guitar.

I added a Kent Armstrong pickup to the original pick guard but I did so non-invasively so it can be removed. It's wired up to a jack that attaches to the tailpiece. Not a permanent solution at all but it works great for playing occasionally plugged in. It could easily be turned into something more permanent with some knobs drilled into the guard, but I didn't want to go there quite yet. Tuners are replacements and work great. The original open back tuners can be included in the sale as well. The replacements dropped right in without having to drill new holes.

No case included but it will be packed well and shipped via Fedex. Asking $800 shipped. I paid a bit more than that at GC so I can't really go any lower. PayPal or Venmo accepted. Might trade for a player grade 000-15, 000-16, etc. Maybe a Yamaha LS-16, Guild m20, maybe an archtop or hollowbody of some kind.
