Default First completed playable guitar... Finally :)

I just finished building a twelve string guitar with George Leach of the Phoenix Guitar Co. after he moved to Torrance Ca.

It is actually based on a Martin M size ( 0000 )

This guitar has so much sustain I am having to learn to play it a bit different than I did with my Taylor. It rings forever!

It has already began to open up in just the week and a half it has been strung up
It has developed a bit more Bass and I a think it will continue to gain more in the bottom end yet sounds full with mids and even in volume across the strings. .... Tuned standard E-E ... action very much the same as my Taylor ( very comfortable ) I am really satisfied!

George is just 5 miles from my house and a great guy to spend time with.

If anyone in So Cal would like to take his class.... He adjusts times to work with Students. Just look up Phoenix Guitar Co.

Thanks Peter and Steve....
Peter I will bring it by someday soon and let you have a close critical inspection. Your help in so many ways made it possible for me to keep going and to get this far.

Ahhhh Yes.... Woods...

I had started using Ziricote that just wouldn't stabilize enough so put it away and George Had a nice set of Ovangkol ( shedua ) and I used that for back and sides.

I had cutoffs from the Ziricote that I used for the Rosette. Found this Bearclaw top at a Luthiers swapmeet that Simscal ( stringed instrument makers of So. Cal ) had out here .

Picked up some Zip Flex from Kevin Ryan's shop since he is just a few miles from home.

Had some nice Honduran Mahogany for the neck and added an Ovangkol stringer down the middle with some walnut veneers along side.

Used Indian Rosewood for bindings and Maccassar Ebony for the Fingerboard and Bridge.

My headstock logo my wife designed based on the D. & R

when put together like we did creates a Japanese Character meaning Brother, Since I have four sisters and I'm the only male child in the family and also a Christian ... Just felt Like it was fitting to who I am.
