Default Doerr Guitar - Retop Project

Due to my love for German spruce top, I have requested Tom to do a retop of my Engelmann Koa Doerr legacy guitar that was built in 2008.

Tom has kindly agreed to help out on my request. He has worked out the new German top with his new lattice brace. In addition to the German top, Tom has incorporated his Ryan-style bevel.

Tom has just got this guitar shipped out and I am looking forward to receive it.

Below are some pictures of the retop guitar that I would like to share...

It sure looks nice. Hope it turns out as you want for tone and responsiveness.

The lattice bracing below the X brace is very similar to my Poling. It sure worked well on that guitar.

that's amazing and looks great. very cool to add an arm bevel. if i may be so bold, i'd like to ask what percentage of the current cost of the guitar was the price of the retopping/arm bevel?

All I would say is that Tom charges very reasonably for his effort.

Did your previous top have his lattice bracing? If not, what are your expectations for the change in sound?

Can you give some sort of range of the cost of the upgrade? Doesn't seem like its something that is highly confidential...and to be honest, I am sure most people were interested in that because many of us have considered doing a similar thing

Do give a call to Tom if you want to do an upgrade. He is real great guy and very nice to talk with.

Had received the koa doerr for a few days. The lattice bracing certainly make the guitar more responsive. I can practically feel the whole guitar vibrating, not only the top.

I definitely prefer the new German top than my previous Engelmann top.

Below are some pictures I took. The arm bevel is just lovely...

And below are my three Doerr Legacy guitars that I loved
