Default Powered speaker options

Currently using an old fender passport 150. Fair sound but needs more output and EQ control. Purchased a mackie mixer and this helps, but trying to get more, clear output and simplyfy things.

Any recommendations on a powered speaker? Just vocal and acoustic guitar.

Not knowing your budget, venue sizes and other requirements I'll start out recommending a Carvin AG200 or Carvin AG300. Ric

I really like my EV ELX112P speakers. Great value for your money.

You could probably find a DXR10 for under $500.

There are a ton of options under $500. What size venues are you playing? Assume you are going to put the speaker on a stand? Some 10" speakers have a better horizontal spread than 12". If you don't use any low end sound source (backup rhythm, etc), then 10" speakers will give you enough bottom end in your sound.

I was playing through a pair of EVs last night, and found them harsh, but that could have been the mixer's EQing, too.

I have a pair of Yamaha DBR12's. They sound just fine to me and have been working without any problems. Per speaker, the price is in your budget.

I've been using a cheapie Alto TX10 for a lot of gigs lately (acoustic + vox). I'm not a huge fan of the sound (very boxy), and I'm eying a Yamaha DBR10 to replace it.

Both well within your budget.

I play anywhere from midsize churches, coffee shps and outdoor festivals.

I love my Carvin AG 300. Though an acoustic amp, it handles everything from bass guitar to my uke. It shines on vocals. Using a mixer for the input to the third channel, I ran bass, guitar, uke and two vocal mics into it at the same time. Worked fine. It also has a matching extension cab available, is pole mountable and well built.
