You guys should get out more!
Gibsons made in the 30s *typically* sported the wedge-profile bridge. Including the J-35! (and the L-0, L-00, Jumbo, Advanced Jumbo, J-45 etc) |

I guess I should! I'll freely admit that I don't know that much about Gibsons, and I guess I'm just not every observant either. I'll have to look closer next time I'm around 10,000 or so of them at the next Arlington Guitar Show.

Has anyone had the chance to play a J35 really vigorously? I wonder how it might hold up to a heavy hand.

Well folks, I went ahead and did it. I ponied up the dough and now my first slope shoulder is on its way to give my dearly beloved Collings a bit of competition. Musician's Friend has a deal on select Gibson guitars and so I snagged a J-35 at 10% off the MAP price. I'm not thrilled about supporting Musician's Friend (I feel really badly Mom and Pop stores- really, I do! I promise I'll buy strings and capos and picks and everything else from you!) but I am excited to see if the J-35 lives up to the hype.
