Brand new or second hand??

How long have you had it??

What type of home heat do you use (are you in a heating area??)?

The crack is minimal and not a serious issue if repaired properly. The wood has likely cracked only slightly, judging by the photos. No big deal, but bring it to your local trustworthy pro sooner rather than later. Don't believe those who say "humidify it and ignore it". If it is a crack, the wood should be glued and sealed.
