Thanks Dennis,

I am having fun with this one.

Here are couple more shots I meant to post with the trussrod stuff on the previous page. First is the showing the nut in position before the spline and headstock cover go on

Here is the spline being glued in place. The slot that the rod sits in is concave and the spline has a radius to match that.

I missed a taking photos of a few steps, but here are a few of the fretboard as it went along. First up the Fretboard and Bridge blank. The fretboard has been processed a bit.

Here I am bending the binding to match the curve on the soundhole end of the fretboard. This curve is the same line that I use on the headstock and bridge.

And the binding piece, being dry-fitted

Thanks Ross, the Fretboard and Bridge are Granadillo.

More progress,

Layout of the Fretboard

I wanted to carry some of the rosette into the fretboard although the markers look a little like the logo of a famous mouse.

Checking to make sure things are still lining up

Lookin' like a sweet little geetar! Nice work John. Especially fond of the rosette and matching fretboard markers.

So nice! Again, just love the nod to traditional aesthetics but in an updated way. Can't wait to see it under finish.

Yes agree, this is really going to be a sharp little music maker and if it sings like my Osthoff someone will be very happy indeed. I had to force myself to stop sending John emails about how much I love my Crazy Cocobolo OM for fear he may get a restraining order on me.

Thanks, I thought about using maple for the fretboard markers, but I decided to stick with mother of pearl instead.

The nod to tradition as you put it, is what I was attempting to do, glad that that was apparent.

Hey Tom, Thanks for the comments on this little guy. I am so glad you like your OM. Keep sending the emails, my head still fits through the door.

This one should be ready to go into finish next week and as mentioned before it is really a side project so things will probably get a bit quiet on this one. I have a bunch of other stuff going in the shop and maybe I will get a general thread going at some point. Still there are few more shots of progress before this one goes in the booth.

Still needs lots of attention and clean-up, but we are getting there.

Lovely!

My jaw drops at the number of clamps holding it all together!

The has-no-luthier-clue creative side of me wants to make a form-in-place single piece but variable size clamp along the lines of a piano hinge.

But I haven't figured it how to keep the tail from flapping as it is being installed....Lego like connectivity maybe.....

Is that a crazy idea?

This custom shop forum is a dangerous place; I smell GAS everywhere!!!
