1968 Gibson J-50 (trades added)
For sale is my very cool 68' J-50. It is in very good condition with the exception of two noteable areas (pictured) from rubbing on the sides of the horrible case it came to me in.It now lives in a new Gibson hard case,has normal finish crazing and NO CRACKS. When I first purchesed the guitar I took it to local luthier Pat O'Donnell to be evaluated.He found no cracks or structual damage...The following things where done...total refrett job,a good cleaning(it needed it) changed out the adjustable saddle to a bone saddle keeping the original bridge intacked and replaced the plywood bridge plate for a rosewood plate.You can see some before & after pics of the bridge in the photobucket link below.The guitar does have the 60's narrow nut (1 & 9/16) which does not bother me in the least. The guitar has very good action and that great Gibson dry,woody tone from that really nice old growth Mahogany back! The reason for selling... lack of use and need of cash...My Martin D-18 V gets most playing time these days and I have a similar guitar in a Epi Masterbilt AJ 500M. Really wishing my Martin Small-body was 12 frets and rosewood back and sides because this is my dream guitar. She's a beauty!
