Top design,
I'm thinking of striping the lacquer off the front of my guitar and drawing a Buddhist ohm on then bees waxing the front, is this a good idea or will it affect the sound etc

The finish has a definite effect on the tone. Is this a valuable guitar with great tone? Then don't do it. Is it a cheap clunker that kind of sounds crappy anyway? Then who cares...
Instead of stripping the finish ( which is more work than you think) why not just paint some acrylic right on top of it? Once again if this is a valuable guitar you will RUIN the value by doing any of this stuff.

From the guitars point of view, it's a bad idea. I believe it could be made to work, but I doubt it would be easy.

Forgot to mention that my guitar is a kimbara, with a dull finish, i was given it, so no money lost other than what I've spent on parts to convert it into a righty from a lefty, if i sand her down to bare wood what would really happen to sound without any lacquer please, she would lye naked,

Thanks for the vote of confidence, I might just sand put the ohm on then one coat of lacquer just to give some protection from nature's hand,
