Default Great Mandolin Tune...

If there's any one song that makes me want to learn mandolin, this is it...

One that impacted me was "Japan" by David Grisman. Oddly, I learned it for guitar but never have learned it for mandolin.

Wow... Watching John Paul make me realize that Mandolin looks quite challenging...

Thanks for the replies.

Maybe my current favorite mandolin player is John Reischman. His touch and his compositional abilities are great. He creates tunes that sound both old and new at the same time.

Personally I wouldn't say it's any more challenging than guitar, just different (I'm nearing three years on mando, guitar off-and-on for 20+ years)
Naturally YMMV, and it does kinda make me wish maybe I had smaller fingers!

setup is paramount with mandolins. get a great easy to use setup and you can have great fun with a mandolin. they can play anything, they are easy to transport, cool to handle and play, and get deep in your blood...............

they are not that hard to learn, I honestly think a touch easier than guitar due to the way they are tuned. a great place to check them out and learn:

listen to the easy haunting "Little Maggie"

sweet home Alabama

and some Bach
