Default New Emerald X20N

Just received a new X20 Slot head nylon from Alistair. The guitar is the somewhat bigger sibling of the X10N as described by Evan in his thread, and the comparison photo posted in that thread shows a guitar that looks the same.

In real life it is just...really... really..beautiful. The top is lattice braced, 1 ⅞ nut, etc. with a lyric microphone in it.

Tone and sound is such a subjective thing, but it sounds very nice - well balanced, moderate-loud, without any of the harshness I was afraid of. It compares pretty favorably to the classical guitars I have played but is ergonomically superior for me. I enjoy the nylon string sound; I play pretty much anything but classical pieces. I wanted a "crossover" type of guitar and the X20 delivers that very nicely. The relatively large body doesn't seem to be any ergonomic problem, and the bass is solid (it still seems well balanced to me). The lyric seems to do a pretty adequate job, I think probably as well as any transducer system, but it is quite sensitive to finger and top noise (no matter where I set the presence control).

Probably my favorite aspect of the guitar is the neck - it just very comfortable and a "goldilocks" neck - not too fat, not too wide, not too thin - just right. It feels great. Well, I also like the soundport too. And the slot-head. And.. well, it is really a fun guitar to play. I am a convert to Emerald, for sure.

Thanks Alistair & team!

Well, I have no doubt it "happened." But, it would be a treat to see some photos. Congrats on the new guitar!

Sounds great! How many frets do you have to the body? Are you using normal or higher tension strings on it?
