Bevan,

OK - I'll bite! Tell me more about the Paua fretboard...sure looks amazing in the photo!

Hope to see these for real in a few days. It's going to be hard to stay at my own table with so much incredible work being shown...I'll be sorely tempted to walk around and take it all in.

Cheers!
Martin

Default More Memphis Lists

Lists are great. We love lists here on the AGF. USB_chord offers great suggestions on eating in Memphis. But, like all lists here, someone (me) horns in and offers some additional thoughts....

1. Payne's Bar-B-Que -- not going to argue about that sandwich. It is at the very least the most original BBQ sandwich in the world. Know, however, that one must have CASH and they are not open at night (I don't think).

2. The Bar-B-Q Shop -- okay, they have great ribs, but there are so many arguably best rib places in Memphis. Corky's is much closer to the Hilton, just to name one place, but man can it get crowded. On Beale, the Blues City Cafe is worth a try as well. There are others, Central BBQ is also quite popular.

3. Huey's - Best Burger in Town -- yup.

4. Best Fine Dining -- I can't let this claim go by without arguing for Felicia Suzanne's downtown.

5. Beer? I will mention the High Cotton Brewery just up the street from Sun Records. Their tap room is open Thurs: 4p-8p • Fri: 4p-9p • Sat: 2p-10p. 598 Monroe downtown.

Just my 2 cents. We are very excited to be hosting you in our city. Best of luck everyone and safe travels.

Default See you in Memphis!

I am seeing so many Beautiful guitars that are making the trek to Memphis! Congrats, you guys on your amazing work! I am happy to say that I will be there to see them and you in person. I hadn't planned on attending but when Bob asked if I may want to fill in for a cancellation, I jumped at the chance. I am bringing a couple of instruments I made for The Guitar Store and a couple of my own personal stock. I am adding some photos of the new ones.

Tim,

Probably not. Life is complex, in a good way. I just returned from leading an international human rights law project in Nicaragua, I return to Nicaragua for a follow up in early August and then spend 3 weeks in Peru. This fall I've got 2 TEDx talks and will otherwise be living in northern Mexico and completing myh next book. Then, back to full-time teaching.

I'm looking forward, as always, to seeing what you've built lately!

Come on now people. It's Thursday, I know you are all out there, sure you might be busy, or resting, or showering, or catching up with old friends, but don't forget us poor slobs sitting at home with our pathetic lives....WE NEED PICS AND POSTS!!!!

I practically tore the office apart looking for my copy, no dice. Maybe a beer and a photo will suffice.

Here you go Tom. Calm before the storm. Notice the AGF banner in the back. Setup isn't until the morning. I'll try to do more reporting.

Steve trying to convince Bob Singer that Box Elder makes great headplates while inlay artist Craig Lavin is thinking, "I got to inlay into this?!"

Thanks Ryan,

Glad to see you guys made it OK. That looks to be a big pile of lowly box elder sitting next to pieces of "The Tree", isn't there some law about that? What if a box elder bug invaded the tree....omg
