I'd slip away quietly under cover of darkness. No need for that long good bye. That leaves the door open to return someday.

So someone will post some long-winded rant about everything and everyone and say they are quitting. The immediately posted replies are always "can I have your stuff?"

If someone posts a teary-eyed heartfelt fond farewell the immediately posted replies are always "can I have your stuff?"

I think it has become protocol
I wonder if that would work here???

It's a bit entertaing to me when someone posts a goodbye message on a forum and then frequently signs in to check the responses to their goodbye post. If you click on the "newly departed" members screen name you can see how often and how recently they last checked in.

When I've left other forums I just stop posting and delete it from my bookmarks.

If someone wants to spit the dummy before quitting an internet forum, they have that right,

I'm back! What'd I miss?

There have been some classic goodbyes, you know who you are. There's also been some head scratchers, KYDave, fitness, Rlouie........
To me it's all good either way and I always look forward to returning members.
Bye the way where the heck is Jon? he's been gone too long!

I've never gone to any high school reunions because no one in my class knew who I was anyway, and the same thing applies here. Were I to leave a good-bye post, everyone would be going."Who?"

Hey RP,

I wouldn't mine to say goodbye and thank everyone for what I've learned here. I am spending hours sometimes reading lot of new and old posts, and I've learn a lot about guitar brands, guitar making, materials, history. what people like/dislike etc. I would have kept my account for whomever wants to PM me, but I am not seeing myself to just vanish. I don't see were else I would chat and learn about what I love dearly. However, I agree with you that sometimes we are witnessing posts that are not the best and usually come with a "Goodbye, but let me b%3ch about xyz", which is lame.

Good OP and Poll!

I'm not planning on going anywhere but if I did I'd go silently.

That's what I've been wanting to know. Sounds as though it was quite an exit!
