Default A long awaited NGD!

I've been playing guitar for over 30 years now, and while I have spent enough on acoustics and electrics to have bought one, time and tide never seemed to have me in a position to get the one guitar that has occupied the top slot of my GAS list since...well, before I knew what a GAS list was ;-). The venerable Martin D28. I've come close to snagging one a few times, but I either didn't have the free funds or wasn't happy with the one I had in my hands when I could pay for it. Unfortunately, they run near $4000 here in Canada taxes included, so it was tough to justify.

I picked this beauty up last night after selling that Morgan CVM I had...a very fine instrument itself, but I only traded for it as a means to an end. That end - a 2005 Martin D28 in excellent condition. It has been to a talented luthier for a proper set-up (albeit for 12's, which will be remedied today, since it has Elixirs on it). I'll be picking up JP 13's today to swap on. The finish has aged beautifully, the set-up is absolutely spot-on, I can rip up and down the neck like it's a Tele, and the response to playing dynamics is amazing - sombre to thunder in a slight attack change.

Congrats B-Nads!!!

There is nothing...nothing...better in the world of acoustic guitar than a great D-28 Standard...from ANY era.

That guitar of yours is just sublime, and I especially love when the Sitka tops age into that gorgeous honey amber color. The EIR back is superb as well.

Ya done good...enjoy...and play the daylights out of it!

I know what you mean. I started by picking up a very nice but inexpensive Epiphone Masterbilt. Then another one. And another one. After a while it occurred to me I could sell the numerous inexpensive guitars I'd acquired to fund a very nice higher end guitar. It's called evolution.

Major congrats, B-Nads, with that gorgeous Martin!
