An Ebow isn't a pedal but it creates ambient weird sounds. Youtube Ebow if you're not familiar with it.

I'm a big fan of weird sounds, but I usually do them on electric. Here is some ideas that I think it is important. They are more important than pedals per si:
-- Drives and fuzz at the end of the chain: distort your already modulated sound is very very great.
-- Use a lot of octaves, mix it, control it with an expression pedal if you want.
-- Delays and reverbs: I use mainly analog delays and reverse delays. I always use reverb, sometimes a lot of it!
-- Modulations: that's the most nice part. When I use modulation, I abuse them. Chorus, flanger, phaser and tremolo at the extreme is amazing.

My own effects, to gave you an idea:
-- Zoom G1xNext (it sucks, but that's why I love it): I use it mainly for octaves and, sometimes, for fuzz.
-- Zoom A2 (I use it both on acoustic and electric guitars): delay, double delay, reverb, flanger, phaser, tremolo, auto-wah, chorus at extreme, drones, sound of failure (I can't describe it haha).
-- Boss SD-1: awesome and cheap overdrive!

I want to buy a loop, a fuzz, and a Line 6 Filter Modeler now. They are amazing.

PS: listen to Tera Melos, if you don't know them. It's the best band on weird sounds
PS2: I should make a video of all this. Would be great.

Boss released this pedal last year....the Tera Echo TE-2.
Not your typical delay pedal. Listen to some of the demo's on-line and you will get the picture.

These are all such great ideas. Now I have to try them all to find the one that suits me. Did I say "one". Maybe more than one, or two. Thanks very much to all who contributed. This thread may be one that can serve others who are looking to get out of the box a little with pedals. What awesome possibilities.

Doug,

I currently have two of the pedals mentioned here for sale over in the Classifieds Other section - the EHX Freeze and an EP Booster. If you are interested in either (or both) shoot me a PM. I tried to PM you but it would not go through.

You can also email me. Email is in my profile.

M.

I went with the Tera Echo TE-2 and am waiting to have it delivered. Then I will disappear for days figuring out the weird sounds it makes and how to fit it into my set. Thanks for the idea...its a great pedal from all I can hear and read.
