1936(?) Tonk Bros. Washburn 5255 conversion
One of a kind vintage guitar for sale or trade: mid-30s (probably '36) Washburn 5255 Tonk Brothers X-braced roundhole archtop, professionally converted to pin bridge by luthier Tony Klassen about ten years ago. This guitar has a unique sound that I like a lot -- a sharp attack without too much sustain -- hits the sweet spot between archtop and flattop.
Original finish, crack free Spruce/Mahogany guitar, excellent frets, in need of nothing; action at 3/32" and plenty of saddle on reset neck. Plays really great. Original tuners work fine and will be included but were replaced with more accurate new Waverlys. Nut is 1 25/32", string spacing 2 5/16". Has replaced pickguard (actually two of them - tortoise and black, but I usually leave the guard off). Price is $1500 + ship (in decent hardshell case). Will consider trades, especially including a National or similar steel guitar. Tried to list this before but the pics link didn't work.
