Testing a switch from Photobucket to Imgur:


Interesting: when posted from Photobucket, a reduced size image is displayed. When posted from Imgur, a full-size image is displayed.

This guitar seems especially comfortable in Double Drop D tuning. The drone suits it well and the low D note adds a deep richness.

I think the X7 has some drop D genes, deep in the carbon fiber DNA that comes from Ireland.

I started with Photobucket, and moved to Imgur also,
and I like Imgur much better.
Your right about images being full display, really too big IMOH.
I have to edit down the image size on all my Imgur images,
but it's easy to do.

Can you reduce the image size in Imgur without changing the file size of the original upload to Imgur? In that sense, you would have two versions of each image there, I guess?

If you reduce the image size by reducing the horizontal and vertical px the file size also reduces.
When I edit an image size within Imgur I end up with just the edited image file, I do not end up with an original file and a modified file too.
I always keep an original image file on my computer (not downloaded to Imgur) just in case of any mishaps on the Imgur site.

There are also preselected sized you can choose from too.
Look underneath your user name on the Imgur site, there is a drop down menu called " Auto Resize" you may want to explore
there you'll find 80x80 avatar, a couple of thumbnail sizes, and 640X480 message board size, and other larger sizes.

Thanks, k, Flickr definitely has an advantage over Imgur in that regard (ability to select from various sizes for a linked file, without downsizing the original upload.)

Thanks, T. Yes, the Colt was a Spl Combat Govt and went in a hurry. Fortunately, I have other Colts! . It was a good trade and the X7 gets a lot more of my time than that beautiful Colt (which was essentially a 'safe-queen') did.

Thanks for that info. I would be happy to use Imgur, except I would prefer to select from a range of link-to sizes, rather than have to permanently downsize the file that's on the host site, so... Flickr wins out, for me, in that regard.

Like many others, I switched from PhotoBucket to Imgur when PB changed their "3rd party" policy. I don't put all my photos on either - they are stored on my computer and/or an external hard-drive. I downsize any photos I put on a hosting site since I will only use them for reposting on forums. No need for huge photos there, plus it saves up and download time.

We each have varying needs for image hosting online.

I am a “back-up” fanatic, having been a commercial photographer for decades and understanding the need for image preservation. But I don’t use cloud services for that purpose.

For me, I use online hosting only for being able to post images on forums, so everything I upload to online hosting is reduced in image size from the original RAW capture.

But I frequently post on photographer’s forums and sometimes need to post relatively large image sizes on those forums, thus the image size that I like to upload to hosting sites is about 2100 pixels on the long edge.

Having the ability to choose from a variety of image sizes for linking into forums is a great feature for me. Flickr rocks in this aspect. I will upload images which are downsized to 2100 pixels, then choose from Flickr’s various options of sizes, smaller than that, depending on my purpose for posting an image on a forum.
