Just here to echo this.

I've been playing for decades and am a fan of small bodied guitars. This year I've tried out quite a few small bodied "travel" guitars, bought one and picked up a Taylor Mini last week and was very impressed. Now thinking of selling what I just got in order to get the Taylor. . .

Also for what it's worth, I regularly check out an open Mic near Atlanta and the young folks there seem to be gravitating to small body guitars, (think Ed Sheeran) so if peer approval is an issue, I think the Taylor Mini will work out well . . .

I think it was a daily deal? $399 (instead of $699) but I called and they'll give me a similar price. Think it's worth it? Or not so much? Thanks!
Ps-just listing the spec sheet, still v clueless!

I am a Seagull fan as far as "bang for the buck," and that $399 price was an excellent deal! If you can get a similar price, I don't think you can go wrong. I know many on this forum are "Martin or Taylor or nothing," but there are other very quality instruments, and Seagulls (and other Godin products) are some of them.

The best advice you'll get -not knowing about brands and models you might not get what he likes

Default Success!

I ended up getting a Seagull SWS, case, shubb deluxe capo, and a charmed life pick (thanks for helping me choose Scott!), oh, and a set up by local luthier when he’s ready for it. Managed to squeak inside the budget. And it’s an easy return if he wants something else. Just gave it to him....he’s speechless! To my untrained ear it sounds pretty good!

Thank you all so very much for your advice, patience and input! Couldn’t have done it without your help and the forum.

All the best to you all <3
With gratitude,
Dotty

Dotty: You got a really nice guitar for him! Congratulations on a very good choice. He will enjoy that for ages. And you said you were clueless.

Dotty, I'm sure he'll be thrilled. The Seagulls are superb values AND you were able to keep your dollars in North America. Any assistance I was able to provide is my pleasure.

Dotty, did you end up doing with Sweetwater or someone else? Always just curious.

Pick will hit the trail to you from Los Angeles early this coming week.

Take Care,
Scott

Wow, I'm just a sucker for a happy ending...a great guitar to an obviously great son from a great mother...don't look at me; I don't want you all to see me like this...must be allergies or something in my eye...

You done real good, Dotty...God bless you for the love and effort you show...
