Default The Court Of The Crimson King (King Crimson cover) - rough recording

I finally got myself a Focusrite Solo recording interface that I can use with my Windows 10 laptop, and I'm trying to get to grips with the bundled Pro Tools First. So I had a go at this as my first test recording, just using the one vocal condenser mic.

I included The Return Of The Fire Witch, but I didn't bother with The Dance Of The Puppets.

Thumbs up. A nice acoustic arrangement maintaining all the important elements of the song. All without using a mellotron, too! Of course, right now, a good tribute to John Wetton.

Well this was a nice surprise this morning! Never thought of this song as being suitable for acoustic. I should be a little more open. Good job!

best,

Rick

I was just yesterday thinking of trying to arrange 21st Century Schizoid Man for flute and guitar. This gives me hope.

Nice job.

Thank you everyone - yes, sad to hear of the passing John Wetton.

Got to work on the vocal part - this one is late-night and snuffly.

And FwL, coincidentally, I've just started working with a flutist, and hope to work out a flute/guitar arrangement for this and a couple of other early KC pieces. So far, we've had two rehearsals, and here's a sampler of clips from four of the pieces we have so far:

Wow, very nice and I can almost hear the Mellotron in my mind's ear.

As to the mention of John Wetton in the thread, wasn't it Greg Lake on the original though?

Thanks J-Doug and Frank - yes, it was Greg Lake on the original, but it was just yesterday we lost John Wetton.

And for what it's worth, I re-did the lead vocal on the track and re-posted.
