Default New Doff Russian Seven-string Guitar

Model Doff RG - Russian seven-string guitar. Frankly speaking, we spent a lot of time to revive undeservedly forgotten Russian seven-string guitar.
Going back to 2010 and seeing what kinds of seven-string guitars were presented in music stores, we were surprised to find out the Asian versions of seven-string guitar, where the seventh string was just added to the six strings, or very expensive professional instruments. In that moment we decided to return the original seven-string guitar with a body conscience silhouette, elegant tripod, typical layout of strings and of course bolt-on neck (as in original instrument).
The most interesting thing is that concurrently with the appearance of our guitars there was an increase of interest to seven-string guitars, to the ancient Russian romances, to the genuine Russian tones, and we hope there’s our merit as well.

WOW!!!!
My first instrument was a Russian seven-string converted to a six string.
Didn't sound nor play right.
But it was mine...
Oh sweet memories...

That's pretty neat and it's a good looking instrument. Did I read correctly that you are using the traditional adjustable neck joint?

I know several Russians who play traditional Russian music on various instruments... None of them really knows how to play the 7 string... Their comments were always that affordable Russian guitars were junk... The most common descriptor was "they don't even burn long enough to make good firewood...." and there was just nothing else unless you were in an official orchestra and as such, could get a good instrument allocated to you.

The Asian ones at least offer a solid step up from the old soviet $10 or $15 ruble models, but as you pointed out - there's really nothing between cheap and really expensive bespoken instruments.

Thanks

Do you remember the name of fabric where it was made?

Thanks, you are right, this instrument is really pleasure to look at and play also)
Yes, it is correct that we are using the traditional adjustable neck joint.

You know, it is a matter of habit on which kind of guitar to play, 6 or 7 string, or how you were learned, but if you play 6 string guitar it will no biggie to study playing on 7 string guitar.

Besides Russian singer Vladimir Vysotsky played on 7 string guitar

For many years, the seven string guitar was far more popular in Russia than the regular six-string Spanish guitar; the latter was a rarity in Russia before the revolution of 1917. The Russian guitar gained significant popularity in the latter half of the 19th century with the increasing popularity of guitar oriented "city romance" songs.

What is the difference in construction between the 6 string and the traditional 7 string.

I have seen some pix of old ones - and they were generally ladder braced and gut/nylon strung.

There are a lot of differences :
-First of all - difference in tuning systems 6(E B G D A E) 7( dą b g d B G D)
-The construction of the guitar, six-string guitar neck glued to the body, and a seven-string guitar's neck is a separate part, it means that guitar has bolt-on neck.
- Diagram of bass bar on the upper deck - Scherzer
- The lower deck is made in the form of lens(it makes sounding of guitar brighter)
- Body of seven-string guitar is made from solid maple (the traditional material), whereby the sound became bright and crystal.
