Default NGD: Taylor GCce-N-FLTD My first Nylon! Picture Post

I see that there is a special section here on AGF dedicated to the nylon string guitar. As of 2 weeks ago, I have become an owner of a new Taylor, Grand Concert body, Fall 2012 Ltd edition Nylon string acoustic guitar with the Taylor expression system pickups.

The top is European spruce and the back and sides are quilted Sapele.

It has a very beautiful, warm tone, very dynamic and responsive feel with a comfortable neck. The cutaway helps get a reach beyond the 12 fret where the neck hits the body.

It performs wonderfully plugged into a PA and acoustic amp. Being mostly an electric player, I enjoy the louder sounds of the guitar. Unplugged it is not very loud. It by no means has to be plugged in to be enjoyable.

I was at a small concert and heard the guitarist playing a Taylor Nylon and I loved the sound. My other acoustics are a Collings OM1A and a Taylor 815ce. There was enough of a distinct and beautiful tone in the nylon that a major case of GAS set in.

I did a bunch of reading on the forums about my options and then went to a local music store and played a selection of Taylors. My choice was this one:

Thank you very much.

I certainly will play it unplugged at times, however, I like to use a Boomerang III looper for a lot of my playing, so that means I'll be plugged in for that. Also, when jamming and doing lead, I'll be plugged in.
