Default Electric guitar forums?

I love hanging out at the AGF. What are the popular electric guitar forums?

TDPRI is fantastic. It kind of reminds me of the electric version of the AGF. Also, if you enjoy or have an interest in building electric guitars, the build forum over there is VERY active with tons of fantastic builders, both professional and amateur.

In addition to TDPRI and TGP, I find a lot of good info (mostly Gibson related, of course) at MyLesPaul.

Absolutely. Great moderators over there (with a very similar "play nice together" philosophy as here at AGF), and a generally very good-natured, helpful bunch of people hang out there. Some of the regulars are very knowledgeable. When I used to hang out there (a number of year back now) I used to particularly like the Tabs and Theory (I forget exactly what it was called), and recording subforums - lots of useful conversation, generous, pleasant people, lots of knowledge and experience.

I like the Fender Forum. I also participate in the Ibanez Forum, the Gibson Forum and the Epiphone section of the Gibson Forum, not to mention the new Epi Forum, but the activity level is so slow everywhere except the AGF and Fender that it's hard to take. The fact is, I'm spoiled by the AGF and Fender Forum, how quickly our massive membership numbers provide answers and advice.

I remember in about 2002 to 2005 or so, harmony central was really active. It was very much focused on what might be deemed to be 'mid range' or 'player's' gear. The Gear Page was viewed as being more for rich people playing indoors as they all talked about boutique effects and amps. There was a bit of a rivalry between the two as I remember.

Then the quality of harmony central really dipped and some of the key members formed a breakaway forum called 'haunting mids'. The name started as a bit of an in joke from someone referring to some tubescreamer clone as having 'haunting mids' or something.

I'm not sure if haunting mids even exists anymore. The gear page is probably the main generic one, the effects pedal forum is very active there. TPDRI is good too, probably a bit less 'boutique' focusessd than TGP.

The history of internet forums, how very geeky!

The "Les Paul Forum", as distinct from "My Les Paul", is also a good source of info for Gibson fans - with a lot less in the way of advertisements.

I agree with the aforementioned guitar forums - they're all great. In addition, here are some electric guitar related forums:

The Seymour Duncan (SD) forum is a great site for all types of pickups (not just SD).
The Marshall Amp Forum is a great site for Marshall amps.

There are a couple of "Fender" places one is simply the Fender Forum the other is the Fender Discusssion Page. Google them. The Gear Page is on my favorites, great group there. I drop in on special interest pages from time to time. Surf Guitar 101 can be friendly and crazy town depending on who's responding to topics.

I'm another fan of TDPRI. Even if you're not interested in Teles the attitude, community and general knowledge there is great. But as a warning, if you spend much time reading that forum, you're probably going to wind up with a Tele.
