Mighty Mite necks
Does anyone like these necks? They seem reasonably priced on ebay. Itching for a maple neck with 1 & 11/16th bone nut. Don't want to break the bank.

No. Unless you have to go cheap I would avoid these necks. The fretwork is pretty shoddy and they often present problems with neck/body alignment when coupled with a Fender body. If this is for a Fender build then I would say buy a MIM Fender neck.

Although I've never used one before I did lots of research a few years ago when I was building my Frankenstrat. I didn't see many favorable comments on them except for the cost. If you're going to use it on a guitar you plan to play frequently, you're better off getting something else. A used Fender Strat neck perhaps? I went with a Warmoth neck, although it cost me $300.
I'm not sure if the product quality has changed over the past few years. |

Trying to replace my Squire neck that has the 1 & 5/8 nut. Whats better than Mighty Mite that's not expensive? Heard the Fender MIM necks are not quite 1 & 11/16.

Go play a few MIM Fenders and see what you think. Not all MIM Fender necks are "created equal", but they are pretty darn consistently good. A BIG step up from Mighty Mite when it comes to fretwork, nut... Or, buy a used Made in Ametica Fender neck off The Gear Page. USACG makes Great necks with a variety of prices based on wood choice. They will custom make your nut width....For a price! |

bought a used Mighty Mite w/ bone nut on ebay for 50 bucks. I will give it my review soon, if it sucks i will just re-list it. I just cant believe how much fun I am having with this cheapo Squire, stays in tune great and the wammy is pretty descent. Now I need some pickups......

So I bought a brand new Mighty Mite neck for $80 on ebay and here is my review; After drilling the holes and installing, the fret board was very abrasive with sharp frets. I used 0000 steel wool and some lemon oil on the fret board but was not very happy. The girth of the neck is somewhat thin and came with just a satin finish that looks cheap. After a week of frustration I put it on ebay, guess I should have listened to the forums advice. Hunting for a maple neck with 1 11/16th nut is not easy.

Mighty-Mite necks (and bodies, as well):
Been there, done that. Never again. I don't care it it was free. It may look like a guitar, but in the instances I have experienced or directly observed, the instrument produced did not play well enough to justify the effort. If I were going to ever do the Frankenstrat thing again, I would go straight for the Warmouth neck (with the compound radius) and body. Expensive, yes, but you get what you pay for. |

Warmoth stuff is top notch, as is USACG.
I have a Warmoth neck on both my tele and jazzmaster, and they are now completely top-tier instruments. Best modifications I ever made to anything guitar related, and worth every penny. |
