Anyone on here ever put out a record? (Vinyl pressing info.)
I would love to know the REAL world cost of pressing a record. I get on websites, and although they give a price, I'm worried about hidden costs. Although I have an appreciation of each person's personal music history, for the sake of this thread I don't really care about what it cost "back in the day." I'm primarily concerned with current costs. I've had CDs printed in the past, but with record sales up 400% in recent years, I'm intrigued.
So, how much did it cost to get your record pressed (out the door pricing)? Heck, post a picture of your final product if you have one. Thanks! |

My wife and I put out an album on vinyl in about 1989. I imagine that would count as "back in the day." It was fairly expensive then; I am guessing it's even more expensive today since there is considerably less competition.

It's been since 1981 for me.

Never pressed 'em, just recorded tape in the 60's. But Jack White restored an old record booth/press at his studio in Nashville......I think Neil Young and a few others have produced vinyl with it.....
