Longshot identification...

A friend unearthed this and I told him I'd check and see if anyone had an idea what brand it is. I'm guessing the infamous "no name" but these instruments are not my specialty....workmanship doesn't look too good...

The F holes look like Harmony production.

I was trying but Tinypic isn't working right now....one distinguishing thing is the headstock has lots of 'bumps' in it - I'll try to get one of that to post later on...

The majority of f-holes found on Harmony archtops were not segmented. The description of the headstock with "lots of bumps" also does not sound like a Harmony. That would seem to be a more fitting description of a Kay headstock from the late 1940s on. The tailpiece also looks Kay-ish but without a shot of the headstock nothing can be said with any certainty.

I'd told him it might be a Kay, but wasn't sure. Still can't get Tinypic to work....

Could it be a Crest with the headstock butchered to look like a Gibson? fingerboard inlay is pretty unique.
