Humidifier that keeps desired setting?
I use a Vornado Evap3for my small guitar room. The problem is when I set it at 35%, the room is at 31%, when I increase it to 40%; the room goes to 57%. I used to not have this problem with the unit, don’t know why it’s showing up now. Any recommendations on a fix or another unit with a better humidistat. The room is only 100sf.

Can anyone help with this, it's really annoying. I feel like 31% is way too low. It used to be fine, not sure what's making the change.

I've got the same unit. It's off but not that much! Maybe call the company. I think the warranty is 5 years.

I'll try that. It just seems weird it would start happening all of sudden when it's always been somewhat close.

I know it's something more to buy, but if you want to control your humidity more accurately this is what you need.
https://www.walmart.com/ip/WILLHI-WH...roller&veh=sem This is what I use. You set the humidity range using this device. Plug your humidifier into to this and set the humidifier so that is always on. Works great. See my post here http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...9&postcount=24 for more details.

That looks intriguing. So I you’d change the humidifier to always be on then this device would just turn it off once it got to that setting? That’s pretty cool.

I purchased one of these units; it turns off the humidifier but won’t kick it on. I’m fairly positive it’s set up correctly and I’ve tried it on two different humidifiers.

The plug-in humidistat (it is NOT a hygrometer) is only as accurate as where its remote sensor is placed.
If you have a ceiling fan you might turn it on low to make sure there's good continuity in the room air. Cold walls, lower or higher locations of the sensor can all affect what the unit is 'seeing'. HE |

Have you changed the filter. Even with distilled water they can clog up over time.

Are you using a second hydrometer? I always use a couple because I don't completely trust the built in ones.

There are so many variables here. How big is a small room? How is it heated? Does the small room have a door? Is it upstairs or in a basement? What is the outside RH?
A fan to circulate air is important. A device to measure rh is a great idea. Personally perfection is not required, if its dry humidify it, if you have condensation on windows don't. I think 35 to 55 in a dedicated room is acceptable.

I have the same model. I've noticed that the longer the unit runs (continuously during our last Santa Ana winds episode), the less accurate the internal meter gets. At least it's in the direction of continuously running rather than turning off. We also have a digital hygrometer; when it gets above 50% and the Vornado is still running I'll just turn the humidity % down on the Vornado to compensate.
