The dreaded first DING!!!
Usually I'm ok with it, but not on my Åstrand. It is too dang nice to have a blemish. I did fix it though, and it turned out awesome. It's invisible now! Thank you ,Youtube!

Thanks! I didn't need to use any finish though. I used Acetone to "melt" the white look out of the ding, and then slowly filled with superglue...sanded, then bufedf..done!

Looks like a great repair job. A few more dings and you'll be a pro at these types of repairs

Great job! You are now an "expert".
I have a few dings I would like to remove as well. Any idea what caused the white look in the ding? How many coats of superglue did you use? What type of buffer did you use? Any other tips? |

I bought my new D-28A with a "pre-installed" ding in the upper bought on the bass side - got a few $$ knocked off because of it. I managed to add a ding in the top on the lower bought treble side a few days later. Both repairable, but I'm more interested in playing it than repairing it. I keep thinking I'll do the repair, but never seem to get around to it . . .
If I do, I hope it comes out as good as your repair did - nice job!

The light gets refracted in all different directions from a ding because the finish is distorted you could say. The acetone melted it a little so it settled. Wasnt much glue really. I taped off the ding, and just added a little glue at a time and waited for it to dry. Sanded it, and hand rubbed it with buffing compound.

Thank you for posting that tip.
A similar idea, for scratches on a black guitar case, is to use a black sharpie permanent marker and just tap the tip on any nicks or scrapes. Small nicks and scrapes will completely disappear! |

I just tried this with the ding on my Martin. What I used both times is Acrylic nail/polish remover. It has the Acetone I need. I just used a Q-tip. Could have easily been more precise with a little brush like in the video. Works like magic guys
