Thanks Jon,

I think they are his initials. He'll likely chime in at some point to either confirm or deny.

You are the first person to ever catch that- or at least the first to mention it. And yes, you are correct. Just a fun way for me to mark the guitar as one of mine.

I like it! Never seen that done before.

I am starting to think Chris has some of Santa's elves chained up in his shop.

He has roughed-in the sound port, it will be finished off by hand later.

Even a dentist can't do such a good job with braces.

Coming along. Remember that the sound port is a great value, because it also doubles as a pick-retrieval port

Fresh in from Chris, Zacchaeus is little by little starting to resemble a guitar.

The back strip has been glued on.

As have the braces.

Chris will be working on carving the braces and fitting the plates to the sides in the coming days.

Very nice. That back bracing reminds me of a ship's wheel. I thought Zachhaeus was a tax collector, not a sailor.

In Jericho???

Ok, it's almost been an hour. Where's the next picture update?

Ok, on a serious note, will this be your first guitar with a sound port, or do any of your others have one?

Cool! Haven't played a guitar with a sound port myself. Will be interesting to hear your thoughts once you get this one.

Jon will be happy as Chris has sent me some end of the week progress photos. Perhaps he will get off his butt and post a few of his Olson build.

The back braces are carved.

[IMG][/IMG]

The sound hole has been cut out.

[IMG][/IMG]

And the top braces have been given some loving attention. Chris says that the top rings and sustains beautifully.

Awesome!

Chris, if you're reading this, what is that square shaped piece between the two lower braces on the top?

Colin, I'd love to get off my butt and fly up to Minneapolis to take some build pictures myself, but alas I have no discretionary funds left if I want to pay the thing off so he can ship it later

That is used as a center seam reinforcement. If that wasn't there, the space between the two tone bars would be largest unsupported part of the center seam on the top. The rest of it is mostly covered.
