Default Cordoba Stage & Traditional Stage Here - With Audio

Greetings,

Well, I bought the Cordoba Stage(Not Traditional) a few days ago because I messed up, knew I’d seen the Stage with 2” Nut(Traditional) somewhere but when I went to order it I couldn’t find it so I just bought the Stage(Not Traditional) instead. Well…they’re both here now so I can A/B them a bit.

The differences, the Stage has a Spruce top with laminated Flame Maple cap, 14 frets to the body, 16” Radius, 1.875” nut and the top of the headstock is shaped a little differently. Roughly 5.2lbs. It’s pretty.
It’s not the most inspiring instrument to play unplugged but it does sound good plugged in. I mean it is what it is though, a plugged in Nylon string guitar. Without going down the rabbit hole and trying different pickup/mic things with it…stock, plugged in, it’s a nice sound says I. YMMV of course.

The Traditional: Cedar top, 12 frets to the body, 2” Nut. I think the neck shape feels similar, C. Roughly 4.4lbs, so lighter than the Edge Burst. It says no radius, flat. I don’t feel much difference in the radius between the two. It’s a slightly smaller guitar from end to end. No sharp fret ends on either. Yay! The Traditional is more resonant unplugged and it sounds good plugged in.
They both say compensated nut, I’m not sure. The intonation out of the box is absolutely better on the Traditional which goes a long way in the plus column for me! but Classical Strings can be weird. I'm going to change 'em and see what happens.

I’m pretty sure the Traditional is staying, the 2” nut width is nice but the other one is growing on me. I'm going to post up a couple of audio clips later if anybody...

That is all!

Both are great looking instruments Mondo. I'd like to hear demos. Congrats on whichever you decide to keep.

I bought a Stage (non-Traditional) on New Year’s Day.

I’m new to nylon-strung guitars, and couldn’t imagine a better introduction. It’s become one of my favourite instruments to pull off the wall and noodle on, and I’m enjoying the new (to me) tonal palette it provides.

It sounds passably good unplugged, but amplified it’s a joy.

Hi David, in some ways I prefer the Stage to the Traditional, just plays a little different, fun to play.

Default Cordoba Stage Traditional - Plugged In

Purists beware! Going from memory with some extra notes in there...sorta!
EJ45s just put on. I do have some EQ dumped here & there...flat it ain't.

The other Stage went back, appreciate the extra nut width here. I did like it though but the intonation was off, I didn't feel like messing with it.
One thing is & YMMV, yeah you're buying these to plug in, they're not the most inspiring instruments to play unplugged but it plays easy, intonation's good and you can get the action down low if you like that kind of thing. Anyway...no verb, just kidding!!!

Very nice sound sample to demonstrate what the Cordoba Stage and Stage Traditional are capable of.

Thanks for doing the demo!
