NGD--Martin 000-15M!
As some of you know from my previous posts, I had the 000-15M on layaway at Elderly Instruments. I received quite a bit of money toward it for Christmas, and the money I got for selling my old clarinet covered almost all of the rest of the cost.
Apparently I'm fond of the sound of mahogany guitars and ukuleles, as all three of my instruments are either solid sapele (DRS1) or solid mahogany. In the case of the DRS1 a year ago, I "played" many dreadnought guitars (I had never played guitar before, and only had two years of experience with ukuleles) and came away with solid sapele. In the case of my solid mahogany Kala KA-SMHT, I played just about every sub-$400 tenor ukulele at Elderly, and it was the one that I loved in that price range. With the 000-15M, I've been playing many smaller bodied guitars at Elderly for months trying to decide. I had put the Martin 000RS25 on layaway initially, until I was fortunate enough to hear recommendations from some of you to try out the 000-15M, and I'm glad I did. I loved it. Unfortunately, I don't have my own web server at home to host photos, anymore, and I no longer see a way to get links to individual photos in Google Photos or Picasa like I could before. So, here's the link to my Google Photos album I just made: https://goo.gl/photos/9jARGrpza7hkLm7F6 I think that the Elderly site is correct when they state that the bridge and fretboard are morado on this particular guitar. I may email Martin with the serial number just to get verification, just for curiosity sake. I would like to know for sure, since the Martin site lists it as East Indian rosewood.

Yes, sapele is in the same family as mahogany, and looks and sounds very similar.
I had some time to go through my whole practice routine with the 000-15M, and I can't get over how different it sounds from the DRS1. It's brighter, of course, with less bass, but the top seems quite a bit more active. It also has a sound I can't quite describe. I'm wondering if it's the Martin "growl" that everyone talks about. I would almost describe it as a honking, but that makes it sound bad, and it's not a bad sound. It seems like it's projecting from the sound hole in a way or to a degree that the DRS1 doesn't do. I also found that my choice in picks is different. With the DRS1, I really like my new Blue Chip pick, but with the 000-15M, that pick takes too much of the wonderful brightness of this guitar away. I think I prefer my previous favorite, a Jim Dunlop celluloid pick.

Congrats! I have a 000-15M and will admit I don't take it out that often, but when I do it always puts a smile on my face! Enjoy!

Thank you, Ed, and thanks to everyone for the comments and likes.
I just can't get over how great this guitar sounds. Every time I play it, I'm blown away. It's so light and responsive. I can feel the back of the guitar vibrating against my body much more so than with the DRS1, and the top is REALLY lively. I guess when you spend almost double for a guitar, you expect better sound, but it still surprises me. I can see why the 000-15M (and other 15 series) has sold so well for Martin.
