Default Tascam DR-05

My Tascam DR-05 shipped today from Sweetwater. I'm curious to see what my guitars sound like on recording.

That looks pretty interesting, I'm curious how good of a job it does. I'm using my old US-122 which is hooked up to my computer, a little bit of a production to get recording. The handheld devices are really convenient.

I like mine. It makes pretty good recordings! Not as good as my Zoom H4N but it is a great little recorder.

Using some good headphones with it, it sounded pretty decent to me. The built in condenser mics worked pretty well, but I was happier with a stand alone mic. Haven't compared it with other brands, but if you are looking for something to give you a fairly accurate representation, the DR-05 will work fine.
One caution, don't drop it. At least, don't drop it like I did, it landed right on a corner, and although the functions all seem to work normally, the display was fried.
I chalked it up to a case of needling to be more careful and bought a DR-07 to replace it, so now can overdub and multiply the horribleness of it all.
Hope you enjoy yours!

I bought the DR07 mkII a few months ago and really like it. I find it pretty easy to use and then upload and email files to my instructor.

I have an interface Yamaha Thr going into my laptop with Cubase.
But for everyday needs I break out the DR-05.
Great for catching quick thoughts/riffs and recording daily practice.
