Default North of the Border?

I've been a member of the TGF for a while now and have posted a few times.. currently looking for a 12 string.
I don't recall any( or few ) responses from Canada... specifically, Ontario? ( I'm in Muskoka )

How many of us are there?
And do you have a 12 string for sale?

Philip

Hey, Kewl! Another Ottawan, small world. Where do you do your Taylor shopping? Lauzon or Steve's? Maybe you know of somewhere else?

Despite the Utah moniker. I'm in Ottawa as well. I shop at both Lauzon and Steve's. Ken Lauzon is a friend of mine, and has a great shop for looking and trying Taylors.

Steve's is a different shop...more of a traditional music store catering to people of all ages and styles. Very fully equipped, I have purchased lots of gear there. I know several of the guys quite well, and there are some hot guitar players that work there.

And, a lot of the staff there are very knowledgable. Each area has a specialist, which comes in handy on the tricky questions.

Tayloresque lives in Chelsea.

Go Sens go!

I shop at both stores, I bought a strat at Steves. Lauzon's is good, great selection of Taylors. Ken is a good guy, however my 414C was purchased north of the border. There was not one left handed Taylor available in the entire city with exception of a 2001 310 at Long and Mcquade's.

I'd like to check out that store in T.O. I hear it carries a large selection of guitars. I've never seen a Taylor at the location in Ottawa.

I have never shopped at Long and McQuade. I will have to check the Ottawa store out.

For Martins or Taylors, I really like Lauzons. Not just because Kenny is a friend, but because it is a quieter store, with nice private listening rooms downstairs and in the back where you can take a guitar to play. I have purchased 3 guitars from Ken. My Peavey Ecoustic, my Taylor, and my G&L ASAT. Plus lots of accy's, amps, PA gear, etc.

Steve's is much more of the "Wayne's World" guitar store enviroment. There is always someone grinding out guitar solos on an electric guitar somewhere. But, for stomp boxes, accy's, home recording gear, Fenders, etc....they have a great selection of guitars and gear. And, some very knowledgeable staff as I mentioned earlier. I bought my mics, and Guitar Synth from Steve's, and I was impressed with the service and price.

Timing is important when shopping at Lauzons. When a fresh shipment of Taylors arrive....well, it is great because generally you have a good sized shipment to chose from. I can kill a few hours there easily trying out different guitars.

to tell you the truth, I've never seen it either. I ordered my guitar from Steves in Montreal first but they really jerked me around. So I took my order elsewhere and was very pleased with the service from L&M. I dealt with a guy named Paul... he's the man. don't remember his last name off the top of my head.

Howdy eh?
Another fellow canucker here! South of T.O. (Woodstock). I go up to Muskoka all the time in the warm months. Nothing beats Taylors, beers, fishin', and black flies the size of your head!! I got a a 414ce from '98 that I love and a new (2003) 12 string 355 summer strummer in gloss Koa that sounds good, but needs a little age to open up and sparkle! For Taylor test driving, try Murch Music in Cambridge. They are a great dealer with lots of Taylor inventory (usually around 20-30) with several high end (900's, JDCM, are some I can remember). If you go to T.O., and you like other brands, namely high end , try 12fret.com. I've been lookin' at Collings lately, and they have some nice ones. (If I'm pissed at Taylor for anything, it ain't for pulling it's name from the forum, it's for some quality issues between my '98 (love!!), and my '03(like.)
thanks
Barnzy

Ottawa here as well.

I bought a Taylor at Steve's and one at Lauzons. They were custom orders that both went a little screwy and I was never really happy with the way it was handled by either dealer. I like some of the salesman at both but as retail establishments...expensive first impressions have kinda ruled.

After I moved out of the factory instrument range i've come to appreciate the Folklore Centre more and more and took lessons there for the last year but am on a bit of a hiatus. The place has a great vibe.

Another Canadian here.. Halifax N.S.

Got my 510 from now defunct McCabe Music here in Sackville NS in 1976.. Now bought out by MusicStop who now own most all music stores in NS and some in NB. Not very friendly price wise. Pricey on most everthing. Guess thats what happens when you "control " it all..
