On second thought, if you really love basses you might consider that Mutation of a Bass somewhat offensive.
oh well,

I used to get neck/ shoulder pains when I used to play a Fender Precision. Imagne how heavy this beast is!

I like the bass the guy from that 80's band "Dada" (their 'hit' was "Sleeping My Day Away") used...it only had two strings. THAT's my idea of an ideal bass.
Which reminds of of the old bass player joke... "How many bass players does it take to screw in a light bulb?" "1...4...1...4...1...5..."

I have actually played that exact bass. Its a Conklin and when I played it, it was own by some guy in Atlanta. I played it at the Conklin NAMM booth in 1999. I was jamming with Bill at the time. It weights, are you ready of this, 32 lbs.!!! Definately a sitting down bass. Really plays and sounds great though. But, those 7 strings, you could use thost fret boards to land aircraft. Here is an article with a little more on it:
1999 Golden Axe

Don't let anyone else see this. If you do, first thing you know every garage band of 13 year old kids will want one. $9,000 is a little steep, of course, but somebody will be selling a Chinese version made from recycled newspapers for under $300.
Would I buy either the copy or the Conklin? No, but I think I'd enjoy messing with the original for a month or so. Looks like fun to me! cotten |

Don't let this bass taint you on Conklin basses though. This guy makes some great stuff. Now, I'm not talking about the Korean Conklins that GC is selling (those are made by cort - yuck), but the american made one that you have get from Mike. They rock.
