Selling guitars created drama
Reader's Digest version. Wifey's best friend's husband won $$ in Vegas and approached me about selling him a guitar. He ended up buying two. When he asked how much for both I shot him a price, and he bought them. His wife, and now my wife, thinks I took advantage of him.
I don't really need the money right now, and I am enjoying having thinned the heard a bit, but should I make the offer to take them back or just wait and see if it blows over?

I'd offer, to him directly, to take one or both back or make an adjustment IF he feels I took advantage of him. Make sure there's an ending date on the offer. Then tell your wife; she'll tell her friend. She may be upset because none of that money was spent on her. This puts the onus on her husband and not you.

I'd offer them a chance to return the guitars for a full refund.. Or keep them and shut up about the price.
Sorry.. don't mean to be harsh.. But the "grown" man made the decision to buy with his money. Perhaps he should have consulted with "the wife" before he did the deal. The fact that your wife thinks you "took" him is a problem.. IMHO.

The Buyer approached YOU about the possible sale...If HE hasn't approached you again about the deal, I wouldn't worry about it...
I'd tactfully let my wife know she didn't have a horse in the race...you didn't SPEND $$, you MADE $$...and let the other guy handle his wife's issues on that end... Personally, if I were the buyer I'd be embarrassed that my wife recruited the seller's wife to start the drama... All the usual disclaimers apply... Just stating how I'd handle it...

Tell your wife and his wife if they can validate the claim, you'll buy them back or give him the difference. That puts the onus on them. but CTgagnon got it right when he said, "This will never come out well. Buyer's wife had other ideas on how to spend the Vegas $$$."
