Thanks for posting that. It's been awhile since I'd seen it. John Denver was one of the greatest singer songwriters ever, in my opinion. I know many don't agree, but his songs will live forever and you can't say that about many people.

My wife and I are in Aspen right now, attending the Aspen In October tribute to John Denver.
There are several members of John's bands from over the years here to preform some of John's songs.

There are also tribute artists here doing shows nightly, at different venues.
It's a great time to be in Aspen and to celebrate John and his legacy.

Take Me Home Country Roads is the first song I learned on guitar. This Old Guitar is the first song I ever learned to fingerpick. Grew up listening to his music and his views on humanity. A wonderful musician and a wonderful man.

I might easily credit JD for my interest in acoustic guitar. Eagle and the Hawk , Poems, Prayers n Promises..the list goes on. Not only could JD sing, was an excellent guitar player. I give Pete Huttlinger credit for putting out excellent video lessons and getting to the root of JD. RIP both.

A friend saw him perform shortly before he died. He was surprised to hear JD announce that he was finally taking voice lessons.

Default Denver

JD's songs have the ability to immediately connect with folks. They are highly accessible, both in subject matter and in melody. And that will keep them in circulation, so it is not just that someone grew up with them (which is a powerful force on it's own), it's that they speak to generations.

Lessons, smessions, he had a great voice as well. You could feel the heart beating in what he sang.

And I understand it was buried or cremated with John's remains.

John Denver (Duechendorf?) was indeed quite a singer, quite a guitar player, but most of all quite a song writer. He certainly left the world too soon. I play a number of his songs, but I've got to say that while I'm a decent guitar player, he was far better, and while I'm a pretty good singer, he was, again, far better......

I have been to China many times and one thing that still amazes me is how popular this man's music is in china. If you go darn near anywhere and start singing country roads you will get ten chinese people singing it with you. They of course won't know what a single goshdarn word means of course but they will belt it out along with ya.

One of my faves. And I can play him around my kids. Thanks for the reminder to pull out his CD's and reconnect. It hasn't been too long... Less than a season.

This rumoriss not true.
Someone from the estate of John's told me that the guitar was not cremated.
It is currently in a display that is traveling across America.
