Strings. Before they arrived on the scene my guitars sounded pretty thin and the volume was so low I had to use more imagination that ear. But, with strings my entire aural experience has been amazingly audible and tonefully uplifting, except with Gibson guitars. They still sound thin and lack volume.

I think the most recent politically correct adjectives for Gibsons these days are "lifeless and dead"
You have to say it with enough emphasis so that no one realizes that "lifeless" and "dead" actually mean the same thing......

Straplocks squeak, rattle and you need a tool kit to install them. These do not and work with any strap. Avoid the rotating version.

Why carry your guitar if you don't have to?

I would say my Black and Decker electric screwdriver with the string winder attachment. I get two different uses from it---can't beat that. No 2 would be my Planet Waves sound hole tuner. Love having the tuner always available and out of sight.

The most intelligent accessories
The most intelligent accessories are:
1. good working knowledge of the fingerboard. 2. good working knowledge or chord structure and chord forms. 3. knowing where the root of all chord forms are. If you have these in your gig bag no other "accessories" will be needed.

Guitar strap. It would be a pain in the butt making one out of Duck Tape.

No but their creation in human minds acknowledges the existence of a problem and an intelligent solution to it.

I never thought of capos but yes, they indeed are one of my favorite accessories, intelligent or otherwise.

For this thread, I will go with: 1. Gigbag, a good one like Mono or ReunionBlues. Nothing like freeing one's hands when having to move gear. 2. Those elliptical strap buttons. Zero moving parts and nothing to fail: simple, elegant, effective, and cheap (how often does that ever happen ) 3. Clip-on tuners, yes. I go with snarks because they are cheap and accurate enough. That they are quasi-disposable is alright with me given their low cost and great utility. Edward |

What's the most intelligent guitar accessory you have ever seen?
Tube socks on my forearm. Best invention ever.
Except it leaves a tan line on my arm. Right up there with my unicorn tattoo.

Most intelligent? Hmmm, it has to be the Harmonic Capo.

Whoa, looks like someone set that up with cello strings and tried to tune it to high A - probably make a great baritone slide guitar...

I really like the idea of these, but I bought two and the little tab that you see from the front of the guitar broke off on both of them. Anyone else have this problem?
