This one has REALLY opened up!
Had Christmas dinner with my dear friends last night. They are the most thoughtful folks I've ever met. One of the gifts they gave me was this guitar 'window box' that they had crafted from a guitar he bought in high school. What they didn't know was that it was the same brand and model as my first guitar (that was a hand me down from my brother) We realized later that they were probably both bought about the same year! Gifts that are made are always the most special!

Cool. If you ever want to demonstrate what an earthquake does to a model home you can always tonerite it.

Wow, that is really cool! Very thoughtful of your friends Todd, to find such a gift that would be so special to a guitar player.

That's a great gift.
I've seen that done before and every time I see someone that doesn't know what to do with an old unplayable guitar I suggest doing this. One of these days I'm going to pick up something at a garage sale and try it myself.

You know that little guitar in the top shelf? If you look inside it, is there a little guitar? And if you look inside that, is there another little guitar? And if you look inside that, do the little guitars go on and on to the end of the universe?

Very cool!
That is a neat gift... One I would be honored to receive. I love the picture and the little guitar in there. Please, though... Don't cut up any more old American made guitars... There are plenty of new and not-so-old used horrible guitars to cut up that are considerably cheaper than a used USA made Stella.... Like for example - one of the POS Korean made Stellas that came out after they closed down the Chicago plant... Those had to be some of the worst guitars ever sold in the USA... Those old USA Stella guitars (and old Harmony and Kay guitars) are pretty darned cool once you sort out all their problems... Granted - it can be a long list.. (Fretboard, frets, adjustable trussrod, neck reset, etc....) But they sound great for old timey music. |

Sometimes, when a supposed dead length of wood is used as a fencepost, it has been known to start to sprout new growth at the top. Bearing that in mind, I am looking now at the bottom shelf, and wondering about the greenery sprouting upwards through the pot. Could it be that the back and sides are still alive, like the fencepost, and are producing new growth - a shoot, upwards from the middle of the bottom, through the hole in the bottom of the pot (see how craftily that area is hidden), and out, rejoicing, into the resonant air of the guitar cavity?
Of course there will always be some folks who will insist it's just a potted plant. They have that option.
