Default Sí Beag Sí Mór

A lively version of Sí Beag Sí Mór I recorded on the hill of Sí Mór a few days ago. A very popular Irish tune written by blind harpist Turlough O'Carolan (1670-1738) the title has also been Anglicised to Sheebeg Sheemore. I've been playing this tune all my musical life, having first learnt it as a child on the tin whistle then adapting it to guitar at a later age. So when I realised whilst visiting Leitrim this week that I was close to the two hills of Sí Beag and Sí Mór I felt compelled to take the guitar up the hill and blast it out. I have adapted the tune quite a bit over the years and now play it in 3/4 at a much faster pace than most versions I've heard but hope you still like it.

Good job. Thanks for sharing. Several versions of this tune have been posted on the forum in the past, each one with a different spin on the tune.

Thanks for that Rick and really glad you liked it and I have amended my opening post with the correct link.

Yes, I am aware of many versions of the tune which is why I tried to do something different with it though my favourite version is by Liam Óg Ó'Floinn, uillean pipe player with Irish band Planxty. My favourite guitar version is by Steve Cooney.
