Default New 514CE in the house...

I've owned three high end Taylors over the years, but let all of them slip away for various reasons. The Taylor I never considered giving up, however, is my incredible 2003 214. The tone and sustain of that instrument still blows my mind every time I play it!

SO...

At a local Open Mic a friend showed up with a new Taylor 514ce and it just KILLED! Next day I ordered one just like it.

Super axe for sure!

Welcome to the forum 6L6. Is your user name based on tubes?

Congrats on the 514. So - do you prefer the 514 to the 214? Or is it like comparing apples and oranges.

Enjoy!

'Is your user name based on tubes...?"

Yes it is!

It's apples and oranges with the 214 vs 514ce. Both have their place and are simply wonderful instruments.

The 514 is very popular with singer songwriters for a good reason.

Love the 514's and have played some very good 214's and for the money they r very sweet....gotta play em' though as not all things r created equal in the lower range guitars !! I have a 110-E that rings like a bell and has a tone thats also very special when recording !! It's made in 2003 and can't believe its' tone !!

514's just a work horse, awesome acoustic sound and great plugged in. I use it as my gig guitar and I'll never replace it for that job.
